Another fight in Liverpool and another chance for someone to defeat the undefeated king of the super middleweight division, Callum Smith.
John Ryder might be 9/1 at PaddyPower to beat Callum Smith but he will certainly think differently when he faces the Liverpudlian fighter at the M&S Bank arena on Saturday 23rd of November.
Ryder has come a long way since he lost via TKO to Nick Blackwell for the vacant British middleweight title.
After beating many credible opponents, he now has another shot at winning a world title and become a super middleweight champion.
This won’t be his easiest test though. Callum Smith is a beast at Super Middleweight and there is a reason why he is champion of the Ring Magazine belt, champion of the WBA, winner of the Muhammad Ali trophy and holder of the WBC diamond super middle title.
After beating Groves and N’Dam, there have been many people who want to see the 29 year old fight at Anfield in front of a packed crowd fighting Ring Magazine’s pound for pound king, Canelo Alvarez.
But, there hasn’t been much talk of that recently and the scouser is not sitting and waiting for that fight to happen, instead he is defending his belts against his mandatories (which we want to see) .
It is safe to say that Smith is the favorite between the matchup of him vs Ryder with the odds coming in at 1/20 at PaddyPower and that is expected, that Smith comes out victorious.
After this, hopefully the boxing community can see one of the greatest possible fights in boxing to date between Smith and Alvarez but at the moment, it is not looking like we will be seeing it anytime soon.
